Recently, Android Studio released its latest version, of course, with the initials of the animal’s name as the version marker. Previously What’s Changed in named Electric Eel , now it’s Flamingo’s turn to become the illustration mascot in the newest version. Interestingly, besides the presence of various new features, there are significant changes in the new project template section that you need to know about. What are they? Before going any further, one of the most noticeable changes is the iconic logo of Android Studio itself. In this newest logo, he removed the paper shape and moved the Android mascot to the right side of the logo. Much like the initial Android Studio logo.

New Features of Android Studio Flamingo
In this latest Android What’s Changed in Studio, it adopts IntelijIDEA 2022.2.1 with many new features. Here are some of the most interesting.
Live Edit (Compose) experimental : is a feature to live (directly) change the appearance of the existing application on the emulator or device Spain Mobile Number List when a code change occurs. To activate it, you need to change the settings in Settings → Live Edit → Select Live Edit → OK .

This is important so you don’t misunderstand when reading Android tutorials that are still using the old version of Android Studio while you are already using the new version (Flamingo and above). As mentioned at the beginning of this post, there are significant changes to the new project template section that you should be aware of. For clarity, take a look at the following new templates in older versions of Android Studio.

As you can see, many project templates have been removed in this latest version, such as Google Maps Activity , Primary/Detail Flow Activity , Settings Activity , Scrolling Activity , Login Activity and others.
The good news is, even though the template CRYP Email List doesn’t appear when creating a new project , it still exists when creating a new Activity by right-clicking on project structure → New → Activity .

Here are the output options if you select Gallery .
new activity template android studio flamingoYou can see that the template is still there, but with a slight name change. For example, Google Maps Activity becomes Google Maps Views Activity . Not only that, there is even an additional template that didn’t exist before, namely Google Wallet Activity .
So, don’t worry, okay! Even though we can’t directly access the template when creating a new project , you can still use it when creating a new Activity.
Focus Shift to Jetpack Compose
If you pay close attention, there is a change in the template content even with the same name.

Previously, Empty Activity contained projects that used the View or XML approach. So, in this latest version, the content of the Empty Activity is a project that uses Compose.
This indirectly shows that the main focus of Android application development recommended by Google is to use Jetpack Compose.
Then, what if we still want to use a project that uses View? Don’t worry, you can still use templates with the addition of “View” in the name, such as Empty Views Activity , Navigation Drawer Views Activity , etc.
